This gallery contains a small sample of images captured on a recent trip to Great Britain. An escape myself and a few family members had been planning for two years. The first two images are shot at sunrise, out my window at 36,000 feet, with only two hours sleep! The next series of shots show the Thames River just before landing at London’s Heathrow airport. Next you will see an image of Abby Road, then the rest of the trip takes us through several stops in London and on to different points throughout England. We rented an auto and drove! Scary!
You will see the ruins of Stonehenge and Hadrian’s Wall, a remnant of Roman invasion in the first century. Other ruins include various cathedrals, abbeys, and castles. The rest of the the adventure takes us north to Scotland. You will notice images of the city of Edinburgh as we continue through the countryside, then ferry over to the Isle of Mull and the Isle of Skye. We climbed a few large hills called Munros, and hiked close to the summits (where the thick, low cloud cover can be unnerving).
Heading south in Scotland to other sites, castles, and various lochs (including Loch Ness). We did not see Nessie, but instead saw a cool castle ruin on the bank overlooking the loch! All of Great Britain, the villages, countryside, and seas are truly breathtaking. We loved the castles and ruins, and hiking through miles of wilderness.
If you make the trip, make sure you have good hiking boots, running shoes, and rain gear! The people were great in every place we visited. I would like to thank Melanie and Terry for the inspiration and companionship during our travels. ‘Til the next adventure!
