I came across these amazing dunes purely by accident. I was en route to California for an assignment. We were leaving Las Vegas and heading for the California border, to enter the Death Valley National Monument. Passing the small town of Beatty, Nevada, we came closer to our destination and could see the dunes in the distance. Time was of the essence and I wish I had more time to spend shooting. In some of the images you can see ravens flying overhead, diving in for a meal. Their prey was moth larvae of the Sphinx moth variety, and I had never seen so many at one time in my life! I hiked around to many different points of view; the sand had such beautiful textures, color and shadow detail.
